What stone crusher management means on a working shift
Stone crusher management is the plan behind the plant: product mix, crew, wear parts, size and sale. Quarrytec LLP explains the job as it is done on a shift.
A crusher that turns is not yet a managed plant
Stone crusher management is the work of deciding what the plant should make today, and then holding the shift to that decision. The jaw can be running and the yard can still be wrong. Oversize in the 10 mm pile, a loader buried in the wrong stock, a screen cloth left in from yesterday’s order: those are management failures, not geology.
Quarrytec LLP treats operations and management as two jobs that usually travel together. Operations keeps stone moving from the face, through the crusher and the screens, onto separate piles, and onto a truck. Management sets the mix, the crew, the maintenance and the report of what was made and sold.
What sits inside the job
A managed shift starts with the face and the order book, not with the starter button. What rock is available, what size the buyer asked for, and how many trucks are expected, decide the screen settings before the first feed.
Crew management is part of it. An unmanned loader is a stopped plant. So is a plant with three men and no one who can change a screen cloth. The roster is a production tool.
Wear parts are part of it. A jaw plate, a conveyor belt and a bearing have a life. Management is choosing the shutdown, instead of waiting for the plant to choose it in the middle of a dispatch.
Sale is part of it. Stockpiles have to stay apart by size. A weighment that does not match the pile name is how a 20 mm order leaves as a mixture. The owner’s note at the end of the shift should say what went in, what came out, and what was sold.
What this is not
It is not a machine brochure. Selling a jaw, a cone or a screen is a different trade. Quarrytec runs crushers and mines, including plants that belong to other owners, from the quarry face through finished product and sale.
It is also not a promise of a tonnes-per-hour figure. Capacity follows the rock, the circuit and the hours the face can actually feed. A number before a site walk is a guess.
